I'm keen to accept images for use on the site! The rules are that the photo must not be posed or artificial and must be taken from areas of a venue that are publicly accessible. VIP areas are OK, if VIP treatment is available for a fixed fee at the venue.
Importantly, you must promise that you own clear copyright in the images you send in.
Please send images to images@feelitlive.com.
This is the licence I accepted in order to use the photograph. Some licences imply rights that pass to you, and in most cases you can get the same deal I did anyway. If you have a use for an image click "Source Site" and check the licence terms.
Most of the time I'm benefiting from Creative Commons licences.
Follow the link to the source site and you can use the version there however you like. It may seem like splitting hairs but I think the version here is still restricted in law, so follow the link back to the photographer.
My interpretation is that, in exchange for the right to compose the image alongside my factual content, the license permits the general public go right ahead and use the cropped and resized version here. The license says you must attribute me in the way I prefer, and its my preference that you please attribute the original photographer instead.
This means that the photograph was used with the permission of the copyright holder, through a negotiation or special arrangement. Often I took those, or they have been sent in. No rights are available to these photographs without the explicit agreement of the copyright owner who is named and will need to be contacted.
I assert the full protection of copyright law for most of the site, but I want to reward the people who put images in the commons and obey their terms meaningfully and failing to mention an exception that existed would be a mockery of that. The exception is generally a cc by-sa deal, but check the link provided.
This is annoyingly complicated and something of a concern.
In law, I think its is technically hacking, which means I can ask you forcefully to stop, the reason I might do that is since your technology doesn't support copying the image, its unlikely to support dealing with copyright attribution either, and without proper attribution photographers have every right to be upset. If I'm providing the hosting for the image I'm involved and may need a lawyer. Even if it doesn't hold up it could be costly, and its likely you'd pay.
Thanks to Creative Commons the easiest thing for you to do is read the licence deed - and if you are permitted - copy the photo onto your server, give credit and be totally in the clear. If in doubt you can speak to the photographer.
As long as you do adhere to the copyright law and the licence I'll be cool enough to overlook cheeky bandwidth theft if:
If these conditions don't suit you I would consider offering assistance with your project under a standard commercial agreement. Software consultancy is what I do for a living.
I'm really sorry that has to be so boring, if the situation bothers you check out ORG and Creative Commons, who work to make this stuff easier.
I only use images where there is an explicit invitation to do so, but if you do feel aggrieved please email copyright@feelitlive.com and I'll look into it immediately.
If you saw an image on a web site not operated by Cantorva Limited or an employee then please contact that party first.
